Second chance rockers Anvil chosen as support act for AC/DC concerts
Canadian rockers Anvil had spent many years in commercial obscurity (they were formed 30 years ago) until a certain documentary propelled them into the limelight last year. Now they will be supporting AC/DC!
I mentioned in one of my Top 3 Rock Movies blog posts recently that a work colleague had strongly recommended I watch Anvil! The Story of Anvil when it came out on DVD. As a lover of films, and rock music, the documentary (which is supposed to be very funny) really appealed to me – so much so I have actually pre-ordered it (out on Blu-ray and DVD on 15th June)!
The band has now been chosen as the support act for AC/DC on their current tour in the US. The band will be the sole support act for the rock gods at two stadium concerts in Boston and New Jersey.
The band will also be playing at the Download Festival that is on this coming weekend. Anvil will take to the Tuborg Stage on the Saturday night of the popular Donington Park rock festival.
I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about – they were noted as an influence on the careers of both Metallica and Slayer.
