Red Hot Chili Peppers to return at last
It seems like ages since I last saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers live in Manchester – well I think it was 2006 when they had released Stadium Arcadium. Since then there has not been much news as the band had taken a hiatus. I didn’t expect the break to last two years though, so I was excited to hear reports that the band will be reforming to write new material in October.
Drummer Chad Smith, who bears more than a passing resemblance to comedian Will Ferrell, said that the funk rock group were now ready to start work on a new album.
Smith told Billboard:
“That’s the plan (to return then). It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to play or aren’t ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway.”
This is great news for Chili Peppers fans, me included. I have seen the band around 5 times and I always enjoy their on stage energy and Californication is one of my favourite albums.
