Homme’s wife lets slip about green light to supergroup project

There has not been much news regarding Queens of the Stone Age for quite some time despite plans for an album to come out sometime this year. This is mainly due to the fact that all the band members are still doing their own thing.

Troy van Leeuwen is playing guitar for Sweethead, Joey Castillo is touring with Eagle of Death Metal and Michael Shuman is playing bass for Mini Mansions. Dean Fertita has left the band for Jack White’s The Dead Weather. Van Leeuwen has explained that the band have now delayed plans for a new album until “around 2010-ish”.

This had lead to the rumours of Josh Homme forming a kind of supergroup (with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame) to finally be confirmed. Now, Brody Dalle, the wife of Josh Homme and singer/guitarist for Spinnerette, has admitted the project is underway after leaking the news during an interview with the Antiquiet website.

When rock fans hear of this collaboration they cannot fail to get excited.

The rumours started back in 2005 when Dave Grohl told Mojo magazine:

“The next project that I’m trying to initiate involves me on drums, Josh Homme on guitar, and John Paul Jones playing bass. That’s the next album. That wouldn’t suck.”

It certainly wouldn’t “suck” and, like most rock fans, am now eager to hear some of the music. Watch this space.
