The Kinks Set To Reunite?

What is going on with the music industry?  Bands from all over the past four decades are reuniting left right and centre!  Not that I’m complaining though.  It’s giving us “youngens” a chance to see some real legends perform live after we never thought we would see them play in a million years!

The latest band speaking of a reunion is legendary British band, “The Kinks”.  According to Ray Davies, Kinks frontman, they are three quarters of the way there and are now waiting for Davies’ brother, Dave, to fully recover from a stroke back in 2004.  I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing him a full recovery and hope that they will be touring soon.  Not only touring, but there are also talks of them writing and recording new material.

The band formed in 1963 and although they have never as commercially successful as others, they have been known to be one of the most “important and influential” bands in history.  Their most well known singles include “All the day and all of the night” and “Lola” which was actually refused by the BBC to be played on air as it contacted a reference to a large an internationally known soft drink.  The song was quickly changed to “cherry cola” and was then let on to the BBC.

I first saw Ray Davies perform Lola when he amde a guest appearance with Bon Jovi at the Hyde Park concert back in 2003 and since then I have always wanted to see the orginal band perform it live.  Looks as though I may get that chance.  There is no official site at the moment so stay posted for more news.  In the meantime, here’s a little reiminder.
