Hinder To Release New Album

Posted on 6th October 2008 by Daniel Higginbotham in Album Release - Tags:

Good news people.  Hinder are releasing a new album on November the 4th titled “Take It To The Limit”.  The album, following up on “Extreme Behaviour” has the same producer, Brian Howes and features the single “Use Me” which was released in July this year.  They do have a tour starting but is going to be in North America.

Hinder are from Oklahoma City in Oklahoma and got together in 2001.  The first ep was released “Far From Close” on Brickden Records, an independent label, but are now signed with Universal Records, after being offered contracts by other leading companies such as Roadrunner Records and Atlantic.

The 2005 album, “Etreme Beaviour” was hugely anticipated across the industry and the most recognised song played a lot on Scuzz and Kerrang would have to be “Lips of an Angel” and the recognition and play time earned them the Oklahoma Rising Star Award.

They have recenlty toured with 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven and released their second song, “Without You” on Myspace on September the 13th.

I know I can’t wait to hear the new album and if it is half as good as their debut, we are all in for a treat.

Check out the official Hinder website for more information and a tour near you.

Glastonbury Tickets 2009 On Sale Now

Posted on 6th October 2008 by Jessie in News

Looking for tickets for the Glastonbury festival for 2009?  You’d better get in there quick as over half the tickets have been sold already!!

Although there is over 8 months left to go before the festival kicks off, tickets have already gone on sale from Sunday and byt Sunday evening, over half of the 137,000 tickets had already gone.  You could reserve your ticket for £50 or buy the ticket full price at £175.

Why the early sale you ask?  It is all down to last years tickets not selling out in 1 day.  So without a line up yet, you don’t even know what you are paying for.  I’d rather wait and see what bands are on before forking out all that money.  Or better still, see who is playing at the Download festival which  I much prefer as they have better bands and better fans.

Glastobury is going to run over 5 days next year from the 24th to the 28th June.  Booking of the acts taking part is also being organised eralier due to the early booking scheme.  It also ensures that the real fans of Glastonbury can afford tickets and are able to get them.  I’ve tried today and didn’t have much luck so I am definatley going to wait for Download.

Glastonbury does appear to be getting better with the line ups though.  Last year was pretty divers with Jay-Z topping the bill, along with Amy Winehouse and Leonard Cohen.  Headliners for this year should be announced soon but I can confirm who it is not going to be and that’s The Rolling Stones, U2 or Coldplay, although The Ting Tings and Franz Ferdinand should be somewhere on the list.

So if you want to try your chances and see if you can get any tickets, check out the See Tickets site and see if you have better luck than me.

Rise Against Release New Album “Appeal to Reason”

Posted on 4th October 2008 by Daniel Higginbotham in Uncategorized

Rise Against, the Chicago punk rockers, are releasing a new album due out on the 7th of October, titled “Appeal to Reason”.  The band got together in 1999 and consists of Tim McIlrath on vocals and guitar, Zach Blair on guitar, Joe Principe on bass and bringing up the rear on drums is Brandon Barnes, although this wasn’t the original line up.

The band was originally the former members of 88 Fingers Louie and Baxter.  88 Fingers Louie split so the first line up included Tony Tintari on drums and Mr. Precision on guitar.  They never actually played live with Tony and Mr. Precision but they did release a demo in 2000 called Transistor Revolt.

Tony left the band after recording the demo and Mr. Precision left a year later in 2001.  Keving White then picked up where Mr. Precision left off and he was then replaced with Todd Mohney. A few other changes took place across the years and in 2007  they finally have the infamous group they have now.

The new album, “Appeal to Reason” is due out this month but had been available on pre-order from iTunes.  We wish the boys luck with their new album and look forward to them touring with the new material which we are sure will be as great as previous albums.

Check out the Rise Against site for tour dates, news, music and videos.

Rage Against The Machine - Rumours of a new album

Posted on 2nd October 2008 by Adele in Uncategorized - Tags: , ,

All these rumours going round at the moment and absolutely no credibility to them whatsoever.  Its driving me a little nuts.  Last week it was Robert Plant touring back with the legendary Led Zeppelin and now it’s Rage Against the Machine in the midst of recording a new album.  This is doing nothing but getting up the hopes of fans only to be shot down days later when the truth comes out.

The band have been touring but are all working on their own projects at the moment and although they are enjoying the live shows, they have absolutely no plans to start recording new material.

Some kind of media source, and we all know how reliable they are, supposedly from the band’s label, Sony, said they were ready to start recording for a new album to be released in 2009.

Well, I can assure you that the media source was talking rubbish and a spokes person for Tom Morello stated the the tall tale was,

“officially and unequivocally without merit. I can categorically deny this rumor. The band has no plans on recording new material.”

They may continue with the live shows but nothing is set in stone.  Morello has just released a second album called The Nightwatchman, The Fabled City and singer, Zach de la Rocha, is working with a new band called One Day As A Lion.

There are no more live Rage Against The Machine shows for this year but keep your eyes peeled for next years listings.

Here’s a little live video from RATM performing Darkness which was on the soundtrack to The Crow.

Alice in Chains to Release New Album in 2009

Posted on 2nd October 2008 by Jessie in Uncategorized - Tags:

Alice in Chains are planning to record a new album, the first album in 13 years.  The band will be fronted by William Duvall who has a tough job ahead of him in the eyes of long term Alice in Chains fans as he would be replacing the late Layne Staley who passed away in 2002 from a drugs overdose.

Baldy, an associate of the band stated on the Alice in Chains official site

“October will arrive and Alice In Chains will reconvene to record the new album.

“So, as 2008, winds down, band activity will be gearing up, and at some point in 2009 you’ll finally hear what I’ve been raving about for the last several months.”

Current band members are

Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar - William DuVall
Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals - Jerry Cantrell
Bass/Backing Vocals - Mike Inez
Drums/Percussion - Sean Kinney

Duvall has been a friend of Jerry Cantrell’s since 2000 and became Jerry’s goto guy.  He has been on tour with Jerry and has taken the place of Staley and toured with AIC supporting the likes of Velvet Revolver and Kill Hannah.

For classic Alice in Chains and Staley’s last public appearance with the band, see below for the video form the ‘Unplugged’ album, No Excuses.

Meet Disturbed in London

Posted on 1st October 2008 by Jessie in Uncategorized

Calling all UK fans of Disturbed.  Want to meet the band and get yourself a copy of their cd signed by the entire band?  Of course you do!  But how, when and where I hear you ask?

It is all happening this Sunday, the 5th October at zavvi in Oxford Street in London at 4:00pm.

This is all for extra promotion for their new single “Indestructible” which has been described as their darkest one yet and is available from all zavvi stores across the UK and you can also buy it online at Zavvi.

Want to know the address of the store?

Zavvi
14-16 Oxford Street
London
W1D 1AR

Disturbed have had a rough time with critics over the years saying their music isn’t heavy enough but nearly 10 years after the release of their debut album, “The Sickness”, they have had 3 US number one albums and have sold over 10 million albums worldwide so we think those critics should be eating those words now.  Disturbed have a metal sound with a unique melodic quality which sees them ahead of the rest of the game.

If you are looking to see them in concert, they do have some UK dates coming up this month.  See Disturbed UK Tour Dates for more information and ticket sellers.

Dave Grohl Narrowly Escapes Attack by Crazy Fan

Posted on 1st October 2008 by Daniel Higginbotham in News - Tags:

Foo Fighters front man, Dave Grohl,  escaped an attack by a crazed fan on Sunday 28th September when the Foos were playing in Texas at the Austin City Limits music festival.  Luckily for Dave, the security guards dived in to his rescue and wrestled the un-named  attacker to the floor whilst onstage.

The Foo Fighters were the headlining band on the Sunday night which was also the last night of the festival.  The freak member of the audience climbed up on to the stage in the middle of their set and ran towards Grohl who had no idea what was happening at the time.

Although he was a little taken back to start with, he dulled it down and announced to the startled crowd,

“He’s just a drunken college dork. I’ve been there.”

The festival itself had a fantastic lineup that included Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame, The Raconteurs, The Mars Volta, Gnarls Barkley, Vampire Weekend and The Fratellis among many, many others.
