Boy Dressed as Slipknot Drummer Stabs Classmate

Posted on 18th August 2008 by Jessie in News - Tags: , ,

In Krugersdorp, South Africa, a schoolboy, dressed as Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, went on a killing spree at his school.

The pupil, who has yet to be named, stabbed his classmate with a sword and then went on to attack 2 gardeners at NIC Diederichs Technical High School.

A spokesperson,  Jacob Raboroko, Captain from the Johannesburg police issued the following statement.

“He stabbed one of the schoolkids in the neck and he died,” said Raboroko. “He then went further and stabbed a gardener in the back and another gardener in the face. They were taken to hospital in serious conditions.”

The boy, thought to have been on narcotics at the time, made a horrific claim as he was taken in to custody.

“Satan told me to kill the children”

Our hearts are with the victims families at this time and we wish a full recovery to the injured.

Well this is certainly going to give some bad press to one of our favourite bands, and those who follow them.

We certainly shall not be believing it!

Virgin/EMI Sues 30 Seconds to Mars

Posted on 18th August 2008 by Adele in News - Tags:

Virgin/EMI are suing 30 Seconds to Mars for an apparent breach of contract!  That’s not the funny part.  They’re suing the increasingly successful band in excess of $30,000,000!!!!!

The case, which was filed on 15th August, was supposed to be kept away from the public but has managed to get out into the big wide world.

Jared Leto, front man for 30 Seconds To Mars responded to the proceedings.

“So, as you may have heard we are being sued by our former record company for the ridiculously oversized, totally unrealistic and pretty silly (but slightly clever) sum of $30,000,000.  Insane? Yea that’s what we said too.”

In a more official response on the 30 Seconds to Mars official site.

“We have been sued by the corporation quite simply because roughly 45 days ago we exercised our legal right to terminate our old, out of date contract, which, according to the law is null and void,” the statement continued. “If you think the fact that we have sold in excess of two million records and have never been paid a penny is pretty unbelievable. Well, so do we. And the fact that EMI informed us that not only aren’t they going to pay us AT ALL but that we are still 1.4 million dollars in debt to them is even crazier. That the next record we make will be used to pay off that old supposed debt just makes you start wondering what is going on. Shouldn’t a record company be able to turn a profit from selling that many records? Or, at the very least, break even? We think so.”

Are My Chemical Romance Splitting Up?

Posted on 16th August 2008 by Daniel Higginbotham in News

The answer is no, so panic no more!! My Chemical Romance are not splitting up, just taking a break to carry on with the ‘normal’ things in life.

Normal things in life? As normal as they can get for the popular band.  Front man Gerard Way, who recently married girlfriend Lyn-Z, bass player from Mindless Self Indulgence, is taking time to enjoy marital bliss and work on a follow-up comic book to The Umbrella Academy as well as a ‘top secret’ graphic novel for DC Comics.

Mikey Way, bass guitarist and Gerard’s bro, has also started work on a comic book.  Ray Toro is gigging with a Weezer cover band and at the same time, arranging his wedding to fiancee Krista.  Bob Bryar, MCR drummer, is having a well deserved rest with his family in Chicago and Frank Iero, guitarist, is working on his project, Leathermouth.

In a recent interview with MTV, Gerard told them why they are taking a break from the band.

“We can’t make any more music unless we live.  When we get a chance, we’re going to get together and do some demos and start rolling. But we’re going to take it slow. I feel like we needed to be away for a while. People need to kind of miss us because there was a point in the last two-and-a-half years where you could have seen us at least once a month if you wanted.”

Planning has already started on their fourth album which is going to be a completely different sound to previous albums.

Gerard Way commented, “I’m already starting to get the ideas and the aesthetics and everything [for the record]. It’s [going to be] very different from The Black Parade.”

“It’s hard to say at this point, but musically, how Black Parade tapped into the glam, classic rock of Queen and Ziggy Stardust, this taps into something different - not punk, but maybe in its proto sense. The aesthetic - it is extremely different, and it is more stripped-down too.”

“It will be more direct, more about life, and have more social commentary in there.  That’s where it’s kind of heading now. It won’t be a ‘boohoo’ record about ‘Oh, we got famous,’ but a commentary on how the world is now.”

Rocky Horror Remake - Can It Be True?

Posted on 15th August 2008 by Jessie in News - Tags: , ,

After recent news that Sky Movies and MTV are collaborating to remake the ‘classic’ rock musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, that has spawned millions of fans, it appears that the creator, Richard O’Brien, is to have no part in it.

Originally recorded in 1975, starring Susan Sarandon, Meatloaf and of course, the magnificent Tim Curry as Frankenfurter, it appears that Richard O’Brien has not given his blessing to the reinvention of his masterpiece and is to have no input into the film.

O’Brien, in a recent interview with the BBC, stated,

“I have no view on whether it should be remade but it doesn’t have my blessing. I’m not co-producing it and I won’t be involved in any way.”

“The first I heard about it was when people sent me cuttings from US papers.”

In a further interview with BBC Radio 5Live, he was understandable concerned about the new version.

“I don’t know where they’ll go with it really, I’ve even heard that they’re going to put new songs in. I wrote the book, the music and the lyrics.”

“Where are they going to get the songs from? Who’s going to do that? That’s a bit strange isn’t it?”

I think we can all be in agreement when I say, nothing can compare to the original.  We all love the songs, the characters and the story and I don’t think anything will compare, no matter who they have cast.

One fan on the official fan club site said,

“Well ‘Zilla, all I can say is that when I saw the little blurb about this in the Philadelphia Inquirer last week, I felt like I’d been kicked in the solar plexus and I was depressed the rest of the evening. I felt like, if this happens, if there’s even a shred of truth to it, that something precious is going to be taken away from me. Me and millions of others, but I can only speak for myself. One of the responses I read in empireonline says it all: nooooooooooooo!”

Velvet Revolver Kerb Rumours

Posted on 13th August 2008 by Adele in News - Tags:

Velvet Revolver have been quick to put a stop to the internet rumours that Lenny Kravitz is to be the new frontman.

He has recently been spotted in the studio with the VR lads giving credit to the latest gossip from various newsgroups.

Kravitz told Rolling Stone Magazine:

“I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band.”

I guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes and ears peeled and wait fo the band to announce it when they are ready!
