Get ready for the long awaited Chinese Democracy tour

Posted on 12th August 2010 by Daniel Higginbotham in Tour Dates

If you are a dedicated fan of Guns n Roses you will certainly remember how long you had to wait for the full Chinese Democracy album to finally be released at the end of 2008, and it has also been a while since the band last toured the UK.

Well, it may not be a particularly wide-encompassing tour but, in addition to the Leeds/Reading Festival dates, Guns n Roses will be taking to the stage in London, Birmingham and Manchester in October.

Tickets for this mini UK tour are now on sale and standing tickets have inevitably sold out at these venues already.

I was fortunate enough to get two tickets for the Manchester gig so am looking forward to it, even it if it is on a Monday night. I’d much rather it have been on a weekend, but beggers can’t be choosers when it comes to seeing GnR in action!

The tour dates are as follows;

London - O2 Arena on October 13th

Birmingham - LG Arena on 17th

Manchester - MEN Arena on 8th

Download looking like the best rock event of 2010

Posted on 11th March 2010 by Daniel Higginbotham in Other, Tour Dates

I must admit that I have never been to the Download Festival at Donington Park. Even though it is only in Leicestershire, and is not as far from my home as certain other rock events I have been to, this is one festival I would love to go to.

Even though I have been a fan of rock and metal music for years, many of my friends are more inclined towards indie and so have usually opted for more middle of the road events in the past. However, this year at Download the line up looks spectacular for rock fans everywhere.

Rage Against The Machine and the full line up of Aerosmith (so we are led to believe) are joining rock titans AC/DC in headlining this year’s event which takes place between Friday 11th and Sunday 13th June.

As if that wasn’t already enough, Dave Grohl’s side project Them Crooked Vultures, Deftones and Stone Temple Pilots will also be there along with Thirty Seconds To Mars and Billy Idol in the line-up.

I can’t see many other events coming close to this festival in 2010. Tickets are still available through links from the official Download website.

Flight of the Conchords return to where it all began

Posted on 4th March 2010 by Daniel Higginbotham in Tour Dates

The New Zealand comedy duo first made an impression back in 2003 by receiving a nomination for the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The BBC radio series then followed before they became an instant hit with viewers who enjoyed their unique blend of comedy and music performances on the HBO show.

We discussed the possibility of the Kiwi duo returning to the UK, where it all started for them, in a FOTC blog post published back in April last year - now the time has finally arrived with the announcement of a series of UK show dates to be held in May. The Flight of the Conchords will be performing live again with dates in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Glasgow.

Be sure to get your tickets when they go on sale tomorrow morning and see what all the fuss is about when it comes to their reputation for putting on excellent live shows.

Free RATM London gig tickets snapped up in super quick time

Posted on 17th February 2010 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

If you were one of the lucky ones who managed to get Rage Against The Machine tickets this morning, then well done!

It has been announced that all tickets for the surprise event, which is a reward to fans who helped the band to get to the Christmas Number One slot, had been allocated by 1.30pm.

The date for the gig is set for June 6th and will take place in Finsbury Park in London. Fans could register for tickets at Theragefactor.co.uk but unfortunately they have all gone.

Also, it is best to be aware not to buy tickets from touts or auction sites as all tickets will be issued with photos.

Green Day’s American Idiot hits Broadway next month

Posted on 15th February 2010 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

Green Day fresh from their Grammy Award success of 21st Century Breakdown are to bring their American Idiot musical experience to Broadway starting March 24th, 2010.

As an avid Green Day fan I really want to see the Michael Mayer rock show that has received rave reviews since it opened in California last year. Now it is moving to New York there is more of a chance UK fans can go and see it, especially with cheaper flights to the East Coast of the US than the West.

Tickets are on sale now and you can get them from the official Green Day website.

Nickelback 2010 UK Tour Dates and Tickets

Posted on 25th September 2009 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

This is the news all Nickelback fans have been waiting for – the return of the band to UK shores for two new shows early next year. We have always tried to keep fans in the loop, like when the last shows were announced in the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand and the United Kingdom when they were last here back in May.

Those in the know will already have got their pre-sale tickets which were onsale until 9am this morning. However, I have just checked and standing tickets are still available at the time of writing for both UK gigs.

Visit these Ticketmaster or Ticketline links as soon as possible to secure your valuable tickets!

Following their sold out tour in May, tickets surely won’t be available for long. The platinum-selling album Dark Horse is now widely known by all fans and so it will be a great occasion to experience the band knowing all the songs.

The band will play in Liverpool at the Echo Arena on Sunday 17th January 2010 and in London at Wembley Arena on Tuesday 19th January 2010.

There are also special VIP ticket packages for fans who want to experience the show in style.

Rock Supergroup launches UK tour

Posted on 7th September 2009 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

Not all supergroups work as Blind Faith can testify, while Cream and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young prove that they can. I was, and still am a big fan of Audioslave which featured most notably Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. Now we have another supergroup forming to fill us with intrigue.

As I mentioned in an article back in July, Them Crooked Vultures is a hard rock supergroup which has been brought together by Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters’ frontman and ex-Nirvana drummer. The band features an interesting line up which includes Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin Bassist John Paul Jones. Alain Johannes of Queens of the Stone Age will also appear at the live gigs.

Now, while it is too early to say how well they’ll do, and I haven’t even heard any of the songs yet, I certainly wish them well as they embark on a six-date UK tour this December.

Pearl Jam rocked the MEN arena in Manchester last night

Posted on 18th August 2009 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

I was at Pearl Jam’s return to the MEN Arena last night – for the first time since 2000, as part of their four-date European tour which includes London’s O2 tonight.

The grunge legends did not disappoint with a full repertoire of songs through their back catalogue as well as songs from the upcoming album Backspacer. They were on for about 2hours 15mins so fans at the packed out MEN certainly got their money’s worth, with their usual double encore at the end.

Tyler recovering from fall but next Aerosmith show in Canada is postponed

Posted on 7th August 2009 by Daniel Higginbotham in News, Tour Dates

It seems like age may have finally caught up with the Aerosmith rocker. Steven Tyler is recovering from head, neck and shoulder injuries after mistiming a step during a performance in Rapid City, South Dakota on Wednesday night.

The 61-year old was reported to have been dancing around while singing their classic Love in an Elevator song. When he fell from the stage at the outdoor concert it first appeared he had stage dived. But it was soon evident he was genuinely hurt and Steven had to be airlifted to hospital by helicopter. The show had to be ended prematurely.
