I have been an avid Green Day fan since Dookie was released in 1994. I have seen the band many times and after almost five years since “American Idiot,” the new album, “21st Century Breakdown” is almost here and will be released on May 15th.
“Know Your Enemy,” the first single from Green Day’s upcoming eighth studio album, will be released digitally on April 16th. The video for Know Your Enemy will premiere on MTV and VH1 worldwide from April 24th.
Green Day have been gauging the reaction to their new album with guerrilla-style gigs at random venues across the US, with some gigs only being announced hours ahead on a first come first served basis.
For those of you who can’t wait to see the band again, in the tour section of the band’s official website, the message “World Tour coming soon!” is shown. I for one am eagerly awaiting the tour dates here in the UK as Green Day are probably the best live band I’ve ever seen - and I’ve been to a lot of gigs and concerts over the years.
The track listing and song lyrics can be found on the website at www.greenday.com.
Marylin Manson has now revealed the name of his new album to Rolling Stone.com. He is quoted:
“My new record is done, man. It’s called ‘The High End of Low’ — it’s a self-described state of being that I’m in. You’re going to be f#*$ng freaked. It’s the sh%t.”
Please excuse the language but after all, it is Mr. Manson speaking. Would we expect anything less?
He will be shooting the video this month for the first video to the new album. The song will be titled “I Want To Kill You LIke They Do In The Movies” The song itself is 9 minutes long and is about murder, sex and death.
Another uplifting and upbeat tune then!!
The album is due for release in May 2009 and Manson, along with Slayer, are co-headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour starting in July 2009 in Sacramento, California.
Talk About Rock Music says: We may joke about Marylin Manson sometimes and his rather odd and satirical sense of humour and direction of music but we adire him greatly for at least he is daring to be different.
Ever heard of Chris Cornell or Timbaland? Of course you have. Chris Cornell is of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame, (He also did the bond theme for Casino Royale) and came of of Seattle at around the same time as Nirvana. Timbaland is a very well known producer , song writer and rapper in the music biz and has worked with far to many famous people to start mentioning them.
As it turns out, these two extremely talented people will be teaming up together and making a new album which is inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ from 1979, where each track will run into the next track so the album will be a conitnuous stream of music.
This new album is titled “Scream” and is set to be released at the start of March this year.
This much awaited album is thought to be some of Cornell’s best work yet and good news to all Cornell fans as he will be touring Europe next month.
With their last album, “Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned”, being released in 2004, The Prodigy are set to make a sensational follow up album to be released in March 2009. With 11 brand new tracks that may just rip your ears away from your head, the band are really excited about the new album titled, “Invaders Must Die”. In a recent interview with Kerrang, Liam Howlett stated,
“All f*$#%£g bands say their new record’s their best, but this just feels really triumphant for us. It’s on fire. It’s all about the three of us together and what we can do. You know what we deal with: it’s beats in a predominantly electronic style and it’s full of f&$£*d -up guitars!”
The Prodigy
Wanting to move away from all the rock, dance, metal tracks that are appearing left right and centre the band want to stir up the music industry, being one of the things that The Prodigy does best. Rather than mixing things up by using guest vocals and crossing over with other bands, none other than Mr Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters fame, will be jumping into the rear end of the band in the drummers position to bang out some amazing rhythms.
Dave actually emailed the band to find out if there were planning anything in the future and if he could join them on a track or two. The track, “Run With The Wolves” is said to be the most most powerful song on the new album with all the members really going for it.
With a new album being released in March, The prodigy are also planning a tour next year with none other than Dizzy Rascal. Dates as follows:
5th April - Cardiff International Arena
6th April - Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
7th April - Glasgow SECC
9th April - Birmingham NIA
10th April - Manchester MEN Arena
11th April - Nottingham Trent FM Arena
13th April - Sheffield Arena
14th April - Brighton Centre
17th April - London Wembley Arena
Ticket sales start on the 7th November 2008 from ticketmaster.
You heard it here first people! American Rockers, Queensryche, are working on a new album! The band, who formed back in 1981 in Bellvue, Washington, are in the sudio doing the little tweaks to their 12th studio album before pushing it out onto the shelves.
The new album, titled American Soldier, has been formed from frontman Geoff Tate speaking in one on one interviews with various members of the armed forces who have all been in war at one time or another and the album is to tell the story of war, from the soldiers point of view, from World War II to the present day. A heavy subject I hear you say! Yes for sure but could also be a very good time for it to be released, especially in our current cliamte when we have no idea what wars are still rampaging on and not being focussed on by the media.
The album is due for release next year, around spring time and then touring will start. We’ll keep you posted on the tour dates but you can be sure that the first concert will be at the Seattle Snoqualmie Casino.
Geoff Tate spoke about the new album.
“Queensrÿche has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services. It seems like after every show, I’d end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I’ve conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes.”
My favourite Queensryche track HAS to be Silent Lucidity or Jet City Woman or Eyes of a Stranger or . . . .
Before I go on too much, here’s a couple of videos for you to check out.
There are so many posts and sites online that state the new single from the new album from Guns N’ Roses title Chines Democracy has been released for radio play today. It was rumoured to be played on Radio 1 this morning before 11:30. I’ve checked the play list and I can’t see it there and after searching for what seems like hours in Google, I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
I am intrigued to hear it for the first time as there appears to be a lot of good press about it so far and some even say it’s better than anything Velvet Revolver have released. I know we shouldn’t be comparing them but it’s hard not to as they were the same band bar the singer.
Maybe its my searching capabilities (or lack of them) as the reason that I can’t find anything but if you have heard or seen the single or video, please point me in the right direction so I can check it out.
Chinese Democracy has been in the pipleine to be released for about 10 years now and fans have been told pretty much every year that it will be released soon. Finally it’s here!
I’ve been advsed that it will be played between 1pm and 4pm this afternoon on X.fm so get tuned or listen live on your pc at the official x.fm website.
2006 saw the fall of The Darkness who burst into the charts back in 2003 with “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”. They had a total of 5 singles in top ten of the UK chart, won three Brit Awards and the Ivor Norvello Award for songwriting. The debut album, titled “Permission to Land” sold over 1.4 million in the UK.
When the follow up to the debut was released in 2005, titled “One Way Ticket To Hell…And Back” it failed to achieve the same success and the band parted ways.
But Justin, not one to be kept down for long, even after his Eurovision attempt in 2007, has bounced back with a new band, a new single and a new album!
The new band, Hot Leg, have signed with Barbeque Rock Records and have Justin Hawkins on vocals and guitar, Pete Rinaldi on guitar and backing vocals, Samuel SJ Stokes on bass and backing vocals and Darby Todd on drums and backing vocals.
The band will be touring this year and even supporting Alterbridge and Extreme. Check out the Hot Legsite for more details. You can also check Bebo and Myspace for tour dates and ticket information.
The debut single, Trojan Guitar, is due to be released on October the 20th and the album will follow in January.
Hawkins commented on the new band and album:
“Some people are going to dismiss it because of the Darkness thing, but that’s just the way it is”.

Here we go again. A new release date for the latest Guns N’ Roses album, title “Chinese Democracy”, has been set for the 23rd of November 2008, nearly ten years after it was originally planned. Fans have been waiting for this album and promised its release every year with various dates only to be left dissappointed.
Fans have been commenting on various website forums about the release and also about the band and frontman Axl Rose. They are basically saying that they’ll believe the albums release when they can actually buy it. A lot of fans are just getting annoyed and have stated that it’s not the same band with the other members now in Velvet Revolver, Guns N’ Roses is now just a cover band with Axl Rose singing. His antics and attitude towards music and fans has put a lot of them off the band and have moved over to Velvet Revolver as that is where the talent lies anyway.
I’ll beleive it when I see it. I must admit, I agree with the fans comments and Axl has really shot himself in the foot over the years. Appetite for Destruction is one of the all time best ever rock albums and hasn’t been able to come back from the debut album with anything better. Only time will tell but the new Guns N’ Roses have a lot to live up to and a lot of opinions to turn around.
Good news people. Hinder are releasing a new album on November the 4th titled “Take It To The Limit”. The album, following up on “Extreme Behaviour” has the same producer, Brian Howes and features the single “Use Me” which was released in July this year. They do have a tour starting but is going to be in North America.
Hinder are from Oklahoma City in Oklahoma and got together in 2001. The first ep was released “Far From Close” on Brickden Records, an independent label, but are now signed with Universal Records, after being offered contracts by other leading companies such as Roadrunner Records and Atlantic.
The 2005 album, “Etreme Beaviour” was hugely anticipated across the industry and the most recognised song played a lot on Scuzz and Kerrang would have to be “Lips of an Angel” and the recognition and play time earned them the Oklahoma Rising Star Award.
They have recenlty toured with 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven and released their second song, “Without You” on Myspace on September the 13th.
I know I can’t wait to hear the new album and if it is half as good as their debut, we are all in for a treat.
Check out the official Hinder website for more information and a tour near you.
It has been a long time coming but The Rasmus have finally released their next album, Black Roses, which I will be going out to buy this weekend and probably listen to as I did Dead Letters for about 2 months before finally giving other music a chance.
It is a misconception to us British fans that Dead Letters was the band’s first album. In fact, the popular Finish band formed in 1994 while they were still at school and actually have 4 prior albums and have had another one since which didn’t really hit as mainstream as Dead Letters. I have been assured that they are back on top form and I can’t wait to hear what they have been up to.
